Welcome to Week 9!
I hope all of the wonderful Dads and male role models in our children’s lives enjoyed the Father’s Day weekend with their families. Thank you all for sending in such beautiful pictures for us all to celebrate this special day with you.
How incredibly proud I have been to be leading such a beautiful community like St Clare of Assisi. This past week has been a true testament to just how powerful the impact of community spirit and generosity can be when faced with adversity. I feel privileged to be working alongside a staff that have managed the complexities of their roles with such rigour and professionalism and thank all the families in our SCA community for their continued support and kindness.
As outlined in my correspondence last Friday afternoon, St Clare of Assisi has undergone a deep clean of the premises and has reopened for students of essential workers that have not been impacted by quarantine. For all other students, Remote learning will continue at home for students as scheduled with teachers facilitating online platforms, including, connection sessions, email correspondence and updating students of their progress and assessment. There will be very limited staff available for supervision of remote learning at school. If you are an essential worker who has not been impacted by quarantine and require your child to attend school, please email our office at: karen.snowball@cg.catholic.edu.au
I very much appreciate the challenges parents and carers are currently facing trying to balance remote learning with their children as well as completing your own work. Please be assured and know that when school returns back in the classroom, we as educators will meet each child where they are at and will differentiate their learning accordingly. Week 9, is generally a challenging time for children ordinarily, they are reaching the end of term and are tired. Please be kind to yourselves.
If you do find that your child is completing all their work and looking for more to do, please refer to our website, under Remote learning Tab where you can find a variety of additional resources to support our students from K-6.
Gentle reminders
- Check your child's weekly schedule; they are sent out on Fridays via SZapp and can be found on the school website under the remote learning tab. This will help you organise your week.
- Children are expected to attend their daily class connection session, and submit quality work to be registered by their class teacher as attending school for the day.
- Please send through an absentee notification if your child is sick and is unable to report in for their daily check in sessions or submit any work.
- If your child is requiring additional work through the day, please refer to the resources on our school website https://sca.act.edu.au/remote-learning
- Parents are expected to monitor screen time at home and any form of messaging occurring between students.
- Children should be suitably dressed to attend their online sessions. No one should be still in their pyjamas.
In an effort to keep everyone safe and maintain our Remote Learning programs we only have a few staff at school each day. They are providing supervision and support to children whose parents are emergency essential workers or are in a vulnerable situation requiring support.
For families that have been impacted by the SCA community case and have quarantined recently, a letter will be sent directly to you today.
If you are required to quarantine and need help please don't hesitate to call or email.
Please see additional information in this weeks newsletter that may assist you and your children with remote learning.
Further details on what learning will look like for SCA for term 4 will be communicated to our community as soon as this information comes to hand.
Please continue to take care of yourselves and each other.
With blessings to each of to your families.
As outlined in previous newsletters from the beginning of Term 4 we will be communicating via the Compass App. On close of business Friday,17th September 2021, Szapp will no longer be active.
Compass will be SCA's platform of communication, this will include:
- your children's reports,
- you can update all your contact details knowing your data will remain secure,

Our staff have already been using Compass when marking the roll and are familiar with the system. This is a roll out from the Catholic Education Office and is a much easier and user friendly app.
If you havent already done so please download the app so you can become familiar with this new platform.
The portal is accessible via the web and the Compass School Manager App (via the App store on your device - see image below). You will not be able to login without your login details. For those who have not already acessed Compass, your login details have been emailed to you a number of times. They were emailed to the email address provided to the school, please remember to check your junk folder in case they end up there.
