Dear SCA families,
With only one week of this term remaining I give thanks that we have been open for the whole term. When we look at Melbourne, and the entire United States, we remember that things could always be more difficult.
Though everyone is looking forward to the break, let’s do all we can to be positive and work hard right to the end.
Confirmation
I vividly remember my own Confirmation on a mild, Canberra Winter evening. Unfortunately I remember more the events following Mass than the ceremony itself. Running around on the vacant block next to the school hall after Mass (What else do 12 year old boys want to do after sitting quietly for 2 hours?) I came to a sudden and violent halt. A waist high strand of fencing wire had been placed across the block to stop cars from driving on the school oval. It certainly stopped me! I remember to this day the feeling of acute pain across my abdomen while wondering why I was suddenly flying backwards as fast as I had been running forwards.
If Confirmation is a sign, then I must have needed a more obvious one than the rest of my friends.
Tonight, many of our Year 6 children celebrate their Confirmation at Holy Family Church.
Confirmation is a time for young people to renew their Baptismal faith and for the local Church to witness and accept that commitment in furthering the mission of the Church. We pray that the children gain an understanding that Confirmation is an expression of God’s commitment to us, and our commitment to God, in their process of becoming full members of the Christian community.
We pray this week for all the young people in our Archdiocese who will Confirm their membership of the Christian community this year.
Applausometer Shattered!
A small, but dedicated, group of our talented musicians have this week put on three concerts to entertain the whole school. Mr Bautista and these talented students have worked during recess and lunch for the whole term to prepare a melody of songs for us.
The cheering from each audience showed just how much the rest of the school enjoyed these performances. Thanks to the talented students and Mr Bautista for putting a smile on our faces this week.
School Fees
Term 3 school fees are now overdue. Thank you to those families who have paid their school fees. Please speak to Jo McCarthy, in the Front Office, if you are interested in setting up direct debit, having issues with your fees or if you are not sure of the amount due.
Holidays and Absent Notes
If your family is going away on holidays early, please ensure you have provided a note to your child’s classroom teacher prior to leaving. Notes are a legal requirement for our class rolls and must be provided for all absences. We appreciate your support with this.
Summer Uniform
Summer Uniform commences in Term 4, so please check the wardrobe and visit the Clothing Pool and Savvy if any items are needed. We will have the usual transition period early in Term 4 to cater for the unpredictable weather.
A reminder that black leather school shoes are an essential item of uniform. Several parents comment that their Year 6 child only has one term left at school. However, students also need black school shoes in high school.
RU OK Purple Happy Day
It was a fantastic day here last Friday. The only thing brighter than the yellow and purple clothing, was all the smiles.
Thanks to the staff for organising such a great day, with special thanks to Mrs Karen Snowball, Mrs Kristy Everding and Mrs Karen Haines for bringing it all together.
