Dear SCA families,
Hair’s Off for Mrs Strickland
Congratulations to Mrs Susan Strickland, her family and friends with their incredible achievement in hitting their fundraising target of raising over ten thousand dollars for the McGrath Foundation. Now all that is left to do is wish Mrs Strickland best wishes next Monday as she embraces her new shorter haircut.

All SCA families are warmly invited to join our Parish for a Community Carols Festival this Saturday 7 December in Holy Family Church. Mass will be celebrated at 6pm and Carols will begin at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome so please bring your family and friends for food, fun and performances!
Solutions for Children’s Difficult Behaviour
With the school holidays fast approaching we thought this would be a good time to offer parents at our school some assistance with challenging behaviours. Michael Hawton’s parenting courses offer easy-to-implement strategies to equip kids with skills to manage their own behaviour.
For further details regarding and easy to access, on-line course, please see the attached “Online Parenting Couse” flyer.
Community Council
Following our last meeting of the year, I wish to publicly thank the Community Council for the work they have done for our school, and their support of all that we do. It has been another busy year at SCA, and our Council, chaired by Crystal Tunningley, has been actively involved in so many ways. Thank you to each of the members: Crystal Tunningley, Dave Hockley, Simon Hill, Matt Blenkin, Heather Cochrane, Emma Phelan, Brendan Mowlam, Melinda Reeson, Nicki Muir, Tanya Sklepic, Kristy Everding, Luke Brown and Ben Sweeney.
Thank You Family BBQ
To thank the many parents (and grandparents) who volunteered their time in any way this year, the Community Council is hosting an End of Year Family Thank You BBQ.
If you helped in the classroom or tuckshop, on an excursion or carnival, as a committee member or sports coach/manager, in the clothing shop or at the Soccer Carnival, or in any other way not mentioned, please come along on Tuesday 10th December, from 5.30-7.00pm.
Invitations and RSVP forms are included later in this newsletter.
Next Friday
Please join us in our Hall on Friday 13th December at 9.30am as we celebrate Mass to give thanks for all the blessings this year has brought.
Semester Two Reports
Your child’s teacher is in the process of preparing Semester Two reports. There is a great deal of work and energy that goes into the writing of these documents, and I thank the teachers for their efforts. Reports will be sent home with the children on Friday of the last week (18th December).
School Fees
A reminder that school fees are now overdue, for those who are not on a regular direct debit with us I ask that you settle your account with us by Friday so that we are able to meet our budgetary commitments.
Leaving Early
If you are heading off on holidays before the end of the school year, please let the Front Office and classroom teacher know. This will help us to arrange for School Reports and other end of year information.
Library
Mrs Katherine Austin has begun the process of stocktaking books in the library.
Please ensure your children have returned all books to the library as soon as possible.

This Sunday marks the second week of Advent in our Catholic Church.
Each Sunday in Advent a candle is lit on an Advent Wreath, reminding us that Christmas is coming nearer. The second candle is called the Bethlehem candle. It reminds us that Jesus promised to come again.
According to Luke’s gospel, Jesus said:
“Then the Son of Man will appear, coming in a cloud with great power and glory. When these things begin to happen, stand up and raise your heads, because your salvation is near.” Luke 21: 27-28
Have you been in to the front office to look at the Jesse Tree? Come and have a look and find the symbols which represent different members of Jesus’ family.
