A message from the Principal Week 10
Dear SCA Families,
At the end of this week, we farewell a truly treasured member of the SCA community. While we had been aware that Mrs Jo McCarthy was taking some leave, we can now confirm that she will be signing off and stepping into a richly deserved retirement.
Jo has been part of the fabric of SCA for many years, beginning her journey as a Learning Support Assistant and most recently taking on the demanding role of managing the school’s finances. Across every role, through all the changes and challenges, Jo has brought wisdom, calm, and unwavering dedication. Her work behind the scenes has ensured that our leadership team was always supported and that our families were engaged with the utmost professionalism and care.
Together with her colleagues in the front office, Jo helped form what we proudly call the best front office team in Canberra -warm, welcoming, and wonderfully efficient.
Jo’s genuine care, tireless work ethic, and steadfast presence will be sorely missed by students, staff and parents alike. We offer our heartfelt thanks for all she has contributed, and wish Jo and her husband Mark every happiness as they embrace this next chapter of life.
Annette Galvin will be with us for the first week of Term 3 before taking extended leave for the remainder of the year. After many years of dedicated service to our school community, particularly through her vital role supporting our OSHC program and families, Annette has certainly earned this time to rest, recharge, and explore.
Annette is a much-loved member of our exceptional front office team. Her calm presence, efficiency, and good humour have helped her manage the many and varied demands of each day, especially in the complex space of OSHC finances.
We wish Annette all the very best for her adventures ahead, and pray that her travels are safe, joyful, and deeply rewarding.
We hope to soon be able to finalise staffing arrangements for the front office. In the meantime, we are advertising for Annette’s replacement and a part-time replacement for Jo (having already secured someone for three days per week).
Best wishes to all our SCA families for a refreshing and peaceful winter break.
