Message from The Principal Week 3
Dear SCA Families,
A well-ordered and structured school environment plays a key role in supporting students’ learning and overall wellbeing. Research shows that when there are clear expectations and routines, students are more likely to feel secure, focused, and ready to engage in their lessons. This consistency helps students understand what is expected of them, both academically and behaviourally, creating a positive atmosphere that fosters learning.
At our school, we are committed to providing a structured environment where all students have a clear sense of routine. From the moment they enter the school gates, there are well-established processes for moving around the school, transitioning between activities, and settling into classes. This order not only supports students’ emotional and social development but also maximises their time for learning.
To reinforce these expectations, we have introduced the acronym SHINE to guide students when moving as a class around the school:
S – stand tall
H – hands to yourself
I - in a line
N – no talking
E – eyes forward
When students know what to expect, they are more confident in their ability to focus and participate. This structure creates an environment where everyone, students and staff alike, can work together towards achieving the best possible educational outcomes. As partners in your child’s education, we appreciate your support in reinforcing the importance of these routines at home. By working together, we can continue to foster a positive, engaging, and effective learning environment for all.
Colour Run
With great excitement we are looking forward to the Colour Run, here at school, next Friday (28 February). We appreciate any support you can provide through sponsorship. All funds raised will go towards our upgrade this year of new ICT equipment in the school.
Parent / Teacher Conferences
Parent / Teacher Conferences will be held next week. This new initiative aims to strengthen the parent-teacher partnership early in the school year. Each teacher is looking forward to meeting with parents and carers to gain extra insights into the children they work with every day.
These meetings are an initial meet and greet with your child's teacher to develop partnership between home and school.
Can you please:
1. Book a time via the COMPASS Conference Booking System.
2. Attend your child’s classroom at your designated time and date.
3. Record your interview time and date somewhere safe as you will not receive an email notification.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or the Front Office.
Please ensure you have made your booking as soon as possible.

Student Leaders
Our Year 6 students spent last Wednesday reflecting on what it means to be a leader, and in particular, what lessons Jesus taught us about leadership. On Friday of last week, we commissioned our Year 6 students as leaders in our school, and wish them every blessing for a wonderful final year of primary school.
Keeping Your Child Safe
10km per hour…. It’s really quite slow. It’s proven to be the speed that keeps our kids, staff and community safe. It’s also the maximum speed allowed in the school grounds. Please, be patient, be careful, and be slow.
Left Turn Only… It’s really quite easy. It’s also helps keep traffic flowing, reducing frustrations and delays for everyone. It’s the only direction you are allowed to turn when leaving the school, between 8.45 - 9.15am and 2.45 - 3.15pm.
Please use the pedestrian crossing, and do not cross near the donut area.
Not only does it set a good example, it increases the chance of everyone getting home safely.
It was once said…
Blessings to you and your family.
