Dear SCA Families
With 6 children in my family it’s hardly a surprise they aren’t always the best of friends with each other. At times there may be a fight or disagreement between two or more of them. As a parent, this is hard to watch. I love each of my kids, and I want them to be the best mates with their siblings. I can’t though, force them to see the good in each other, or to forgive the ill-advised word. As their parent, I cry for them, and hope they will listen, and let love be their guiding principle.
In too many parts of the world people are battling, literally, to live peacefully. In Australia we struggle with reconciliation with our First Nations Peoples.
We are all children of God. Every human, of every race, colour or gender is a child of God. I can only image how much weeping there is in heaven as God watches his children use their free will to spread hatred, intolerance, violence and fear.
On Sunday we celebrated the Feast of Pentecost, which celebrates the coming of the Spirit to the followers of Jesus. After this the disciples went out and enthusiastically proclaimed the Good News of Jesus. These frightened disciples were transformed into bold preachers by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus’ Good News is that to live a full life, all we need to do is to love, and to love fully. The Holy Spirit, should we allow it, can work through us to be beacons of light, reminding all that love is a powerful, life changing force that brings about all that is good.
Our Year 6 children are preparing to celebrate their own Pentecost, through the Sacrament of Confirmation. May they, and each of us, act always with love this week. Peace, which comes from love, must start somewhere. Let it be from us
Athletics carnival
It wasn’t just the weather that was great on Monday. It was fantastic to see all our wonderful SCA students participating so enthusiastically and positively in a wide range of events at the track in Phillip. Congratulations to each child who participated with gusto, and also supported and cheered on their team-mates. It was also great to see so many parents come along to watch and cheers.
Thanks to the numerous and supportive parents who helped. We could not have run the day without you, and the wonderful volunteer students from St Mary MacKillop College. I was impressed with the hard work and enthusiastic support of all the students from St Mary MacKillop College.
Special thanks to the team of staff who organised our day, led by Mrs Katherine Austin, and to all the staff for a long, and enjoyable, day out in the sun.

Please set aside some time on Tuesday 18th June, between 3.00 – 4.30pm, to visit your child’s classroom and share with them their work. Further details will be provided in coming weeks.

Dear Lord,
We offer our grateful thanks and praise for our SCA army of volunteers that quietly yet faithfully offered their services for the wellbeing and support of our beautiful students.
We ask Your special blessing on each one, knowing that they are the unsung heroes for their valuable contribution they make to ensure our school community continues to flourish.
Provide for the needs of each one, and protect them with the grace of the Holy Spirit, so they can continue to shine brightly, with faith, hope and love.
We ask this in Jesus' name,
Amen.
We truly are blessed to have so many Volunteers in our Community that gently offer their time for the benefit of others. Mums, Dads, Grandparents, Alumni, friends of SCA – you allow our school to continue to connect, strive and flourish as a faith filled Catholic learning community.
Last night we held a Class Parent Representative Meeting followed by a Fete Meeting. The enthusiasm, great ideas, willingness to lend a hand and to reach out to others was truly heartwarming. We always need more volunteers and if you have any time spare, please do not hesitate to reach out to Karen Snowball or our Parent Network Coordinator Fay Holden.

Vinnies Winter Appeal
Next week, we will begin our Winter Appeal. Each year, we support our local Vinnies chapters through the Winter appeal. The donations we provide go straight to the people in need in our community. Please keep an eye out for information about this over the next few weeks.
Congratulations to the children who will be awarded white cards at the 8.45 am Friday Morning Assembly.

Speckles match report
The Speckles have had an outstanding start to the season. Our first couple of games we have managed to keep the other team scoreless, an amazing effort. The girls continue to work hard every week and we can clearly see the progress. We have a few new girls on the team, but everyone has gelled together so well. The girls gave it their all (even in the freezing cold and wind). We were awarded a good win 9-0 and can't wait for the rest of the season.
