Dear Families,
If there is truth in the old saying about time flying when you’re having fun, then everyone at St Clare of Assisi must have had a ball so far this year. As this term draws to a close there is so much to be grateful for, so much to give thanks for. There are times when, if we had the chance, we would say or do things differently. The end of term and the holidays, gives us the opportunity to look forward with renewed energy, vigour, vitality and enthusiasm for the term to come.
I also take this opportunity to thank each one of our staff for the efforts they have made together for your children this 11 week term. I continue to be impressed with the caring commitment obvious from the staff at St Clare of Assisi.
Parent / Teacher Conferences
It has been wonderful to see parents and teachers walking away from interviews looking so positive this week. The parents I have spoken with have been full of praise for their child’s teacher and are looking forward to the rest of the year. Thank you to the parents for your support of all we do here.
Special thanks to the teachers for keeping a smile during the long days of the week on top of all the work involved in organising and preparing for the conferences. Thank you.
Winter Uniform
It is time to get the winter uniforms out and dust them off. We will be wearing it when we return for Term Two on 30th April. We will have the usual few weeks of change over, but students are expected to wear correct winter uniform. A reminder that black ‘jogger, canvas or boots’ type school shoes are not part of the school uniform. The only school shoes allowed at St Clare’s are the traditional or formal black leather school shoes.
2025 Enrolments
2025 Enrolment Period

Term Two
A final reminder that Term Two will commence on Tuesday 30th April.
It was once said…
Enjoy the break from school routines. We look forward to seeing you back safely on Tuesday 30th April.
Blessings to you and your family.

From the Assistant Principal Week 11
Thank you to everyone who participated in our SCA Bush Christmas 2023 Fete. It was a wonderful evening and great success. We particularly enjoyed seeing all the students, families and wider members of community in attendance. There were many memories shared as past families and students reconnected with each other. A wonderful community event enjoyed by everyone.
A very big thanks to our Fete Organising Committee, Parents and Staff for their amazing work in creating such a special day. The weather was glorious, the stalls were fantastic, the food was delicious, and the rides were very exciting! Students are still talking about the fun that they had even in this new year. Thank you to each of you for the many hours of hard work that you generously gave to make the evening possible. We raised over $42,000. The funds have covered a small portion of the cost of our new playground equipment. The students are having great fun playing on the equipment, dancing and cartwheeling on the free space under cover.
Thank you again to our Major Sponsor Woolies at Conder and to all our amazing sponsors who contributed so very generously, your support is always greatly appreciated. Please support our sponsors where you can.
Year 5 - AFP Cyber Safety Information Session
Year 5 students were privileged to have Constable David Packwood (AKA Kenny Koala) from the AFP visit SCA on Tuesday to discuss Sharing Photos and my Personal Information Online.
He talked about:
Once you share something online it is very difficult to take it back
So it is important to stop and think first.
Are you about to share some information that you should keep private, or a photo or video that may hurt someone's feelings?
Keeping my personal information private
Personal information is as precious as the keys to your house.
Giving these keys to the wrong people, even by accident, can be like allowing a stranger into your house without you even knowing.
If someone has lots of personal information about you, they could pretend to be you, find out where you live, or even use your personal information to buy things.
The students then had the opportunity to ask questions about how to continue to keep safe online.
Please see the eSafety Commissioner Website for more information. The Kids section is extremely helpful. You will find this at https://www.esafety.gov.au/

Assistant Principal
Next Sunday is the 3rd Sunday of Easter. This Sunday's gospel comes from the gospel of Luke, when Jesus appears to the disciples. Reflecting on this Gospel passage, Pope Francis draws our attention to the three key verbs: look, touch, and eat.
‘To look is not only to see,’ the Pope points out, adding that ‘it is more; it also involves intention, will.’ When Jesus asks the disciples to look at his hands and feet, therefore, he is not only offering visual proof of identity. Rather, Jesus is inviting his disciples to look at his wounded limbs as ‘a first step against indifference, against the temptation to look the other way before the difficulties and sufferings of others.’ Jesus’ wounds are still present for those with the courage to look at them.
Similarly, Jesus’ invitation to the disciples to confirm his presence by touch has a teaching element too. ‘By inviting the disciples to touch him,’ the Pope suggests, ‘Jesus indicates to them and to us that the relationship with him and with our brothers and sisters cannot remain “at a distance”.’ Having seen the wounds, we must be close to the wounded.
Finally, by eating with his disciples Jesus again did more than prove he was physically present at that specific moment. As the Pope points out, ‘eating, when we do so together, among family or friends … becomes an expression of love, and expression of communion.’
Once again, the Gospel suggests Jesus’ action had a deeper meaning about Jesus’ continuing presence among his followers. As St Augustine said of the Eucharist, we become what we consume, which means something truly amazing: The Risen Jesus still eats with us! - Nick Brodie 2024.
Project Compassion
Thank you all for your generosity during our Project Compassion appeal. We are thrilled to share that through your contributions we have raised $1264. This will support the work of Caritas in a purposeful way to live our call of missionary service!
Sacramental enrolment
A final reminder that if you wish to have your child participate in any of the Parish Sacramental programs this year, you will need to enrol them via the South Tuggeranong Parish Qkr by the end of this week. The Confirmation program starts in Week 1 of Term 2.
Confirmation
Confirmation Parent Formation Sessions are in Week 1 of next term, Wednesday 1st May from 7pm or Thursday 2nd May from 5:30pm. It is a requirement that you attend one session if your child is enrolled in the program. If this is an issue, please let myself or Anne Gowen know to find a time to conduct a makeup session.
ANZAC Day Liturgy
We will be holding our ANZAC Day liturgy on Friday of Week 1 next term. All parents and carers are warmly welcome to join us for this. Time will be advised as we return to school.
After a busy term, I wish you and your family a restful break!
