Dear SCA Families
Easter Sunday has come and gone, but the season of Easter continues. During these weeks we celebrate and remember that Jesus is alive and actually present in our lives.
I wish everyone a very happy Easter season and all its blessings, and pray we all see it as a call to renew our commitment to live as disciples and to work for peace in the world. (The season of Easter continues until the feast of Pentecost on 19 May.)
During this last week, the children and teachers from every class led us in prayer to mark Holy Week and the Easter stories. These prayer celebrations helped all children recall the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus and to enter into meaningful prayer. Thanks to the children involved and the teachers.

Parent Teacher Interviews / Oral Reporting
Educating our children requires an effective partnership between parents/carers and the school. To ensure this partnership has any chance of success, please book a time to meet with your child’s teacher in the final week of term. Bookings close tomorrow (Thursday).
It was once said…
Blessings to you and your family.

This Sunday, the Gospel reading is from John 20:19-31, ‘Doubting Thomas’. This reflection, comes from Nick Brodie.
‘In reality,’ Pope Francis points out, ‘Thomas is not the only one who struggles to believe. In fact,’ the Pope adds, ‘he represents all of us a little bit.’
But Thomas does not only represent us with his explicitly articulated doubt. Rather, Thomas highlights our tendency to walk away. Thomas had absented himself from the community. Returning, he seems a touch transactional: Show me the proof, then I’ll commit!
As Pope Francis highlights, Jesus answers Thomas’ doubt ‘in front of everyone, in the community.’ It was, the Pope suggests, as if Jesus was telling Thomas that ‘if you want to meet me, do not search far away; remain in our community, with the others, and don’t go away. Pray with them. Break bread with them.’ Be open to encounter, not closed to possibilities.
This, evidently, is a lesson for us too. Every Christian generation is called to find the Risen Christ together. We belong with each other, with Christ forming a mystical unity out of our diversity.
In this, the story of Thomas has another lesson for the Church. We Christians are called to be a welcoming people. ‘Let us ask ourselves,’ the Pope suggests, ‘if in the name of Jesus’ wounds, we are willing to open our arms to those who are wounded by life, excluding no one from God’s mercy but welcoming everyone.’
After all, despite his attitude Thomas was still included and welcomed by the community whose testimony he doubted. Even more pointedly, Our Lord opens his exchange with the doubter with some clearly welcoming words: ‘Peace be with you.’

WEEK 1 (Tuesday 30th April - 3rd May )
All dates are available on the School Calender
A big thank you to Path Singh, father of Samayra 3R a professional Indian dance instructor. During Harmony week he introduced the Year 3 students to Indian culture and dance. Together, we embraced diversity, celebrated different cultures, and fostered a sense of unity within our school community. It was incredible to see our children learn, grow, and appreciate the beauty of cultural diversity firsthand.
Congratulations to Malakai R (5B), who has been selected to represent the ACT at the 2024 National School Futsal Championships in September.
Malakai represented St Clare of Assisi at last week's School Futsal Titles and was recognised by selectors at the tournament; well done!!!
