Dear Families,
A lot of talking happens in a school. Hopefully there is even more listening. Communication is central to our functioning as humans. We are spiritual beings and so our communication with God is essential to our fullness as a person. The most obvious form of communication with God is through prayer. Prayer is about building a relationship. In the case of prayer, the relationship is with God.
A treasured prayer in our Catholic tradition is the Rosary, and next month, October, is a time for emphasis on the Rosary. The Rosary is a summary of the life of Jesus. The more we come to know these stories and the more we contemplate the mystery of God becoming human, the closer we come to understand and appreciate the presence of God in our lives. The Rosary provides the most intimate insight into God’s extraordinary love and compassion.
During the holidays (Saturday 7th October) we celebrate the Feast of the Rosary. We cannot hope to deepen our relationship with God without prayer. The model of prayer for us is Mary. Praying the Rosary in the company of Mary can lead us towards personal fulfillment and unity with God.

Helpers
Players from our ten teams in the Tuggeranong Netball Association Competition were presented their trophies on Monday morning. Congratulations to each of our Netballers for their efforts, enthusiasm and improvement during the season.
On their behalf, I thank all those who coached, managed, umpired and supported teams throughout the season. It can be a thankless task to officiate in team sport. I confidently assure you, however, that the example you set in selflessly supporting your child’s team will be remembered and valued for years. Thank you.
Footy Fever Day!
We are celebrating ‘Footy Fever Day’ tomorrow (Thursday 21st September). Students are encouraged to dress in their team’s footy colours or ‘sporting’ attire. Please remember to supply a block of chocolate if in Year 1-6. and Kinder a bag of lollies. These items will go towards our Fete next term. Thank you for your support with this.
Caring For Our School
ACT Policing will be increasing pro-active patrols around schools during the holidays, but we are also asking you, the community, to assist us in ensuring our schools remain secure.
Anyone who observes anti-social behaviour or suspicious activity around schools is urged to report this to police immediately on 131 444. This includes suspicious persons or vehicles seen at odd hours of the night, and any signs of potential criminal activity such as the sound of breaking glass, spray cans or electrical equipment being used at odd hours. By working together with police you can help to ensure that our school remain secure over the holidays, allowing our children to get the education they deserve.
Holidays
I am sure our students and staff are all looking forward to the break at the end of this week. I am too, especially as my break will be a week longer than everyone else’s. I will be away during the first week of Term 4, enjoying some time in Queensland with my wife. During my absence, please feel free to contact Mrs Jo Reed, who will be in charge.
A Big Thanks
On behalf of the children and their families I thank each staff member for their efforts during the term. I continue to be impressed with and thankful for the dedication and care shown by all the staff at St Clare of Assisi. Your children are in good hands.
School resumes for Term Four on Monday 9th October. Enjoy some special time with your family these holidays.

Dear Parents and Carers,
Re: ThinkUKnow Presentation- Save the Date
St Clare of Assisi will be hosting a ThinkUKnow presentation on 06 Nov 2023 at 6:00pm and all parents, carers and teachers are encouraged to attend.
ThinkUKnow Australia is an evidence-based education program delivered nationally to prevent online child sexual exploitation.
ThinkUKnow Australia is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police, Microsoft Australia, Datacom and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. The program is delivered in collaboration with policing partners New South Wales Police Force, Northern Territory Police, Queensland Police, South Australia Police, Tasmania Police, Western Australia Police, as well as Neighbourhood Watch Australasia.
The presentation will be delivered by a local law enforcement member and an industry volunteer. The presentation is pro-technology and addresses topics including self-generated child abuse material, online grooming, sexual extortion, and importantly encourages help seeking behaviour.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about young people and the online environment, and how you can help them to be safe and responsible users of technology.
For more information, you can visit www.thinkuknow.org.au or contact jo.reed@cg.catholic.edu.au
