Dear Families,
We have, rapidly it seems, come to the end of the first semester for 2023. It continues to be a privilege to be part of SCA. I have been impressed with the professionalism and dedication of all staff. I wish to thank each of them for their efforts so far this year. I am sure you all join with me in wishing them a well-earned and restful break.
Thank you to the many parents who have supported the school in such a variety of ways. Parents have helped: with the Community Council, welcome BBQ, in the canteen, in reading groups, with excursions, in the classrooms, on special days and events, by attending meetings etc. etc.
Thanks to the children. The staff enjoy coming to work each day because we work with a wonderful group of children.
Enjoy the holidays everyone.
Thank You
It was cold, but it could have been colder. There was a chilling breeze and plenty of rain, but at least I had a wide eave under which to shelter all night. And at least it was just one night. It’s tough enough to do it one night. I can’t imagine living this way every night.
We did it to raise funds to support the battlers in our city. And with your help, just over $800,000 dollars has been raised locally, with all of it earmarked towards items, programs and other forms of assistance for people regularly sleeping rough. Thanks to my supporters for helping me to contribute $8274 towards this figure.
We experienced a small fraction of the privations of homelessness, making the exercise not only practical but experiential. Poverty and homelessness sadly weren’t eradicated and there remains much to do, but they were assisted.
School Fees
Term 2 fees are well overdue. Thank you to the parents who made a time to come and meet with me if they are experiencing a problem financially. If you have not paid your Term 2 fees, please attend to this as a matter of urgency.
Reports
‘The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend forever running up and down the field and never scoring.’ Bill Copeland.
On Monday you should have received your child’s Semester One report. I am sure that each child will be able to identify their own areas of success, and importantly for their growth, areas for development. Should you have any questions about your child’s report, or any other issues, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or myself.
Full School Uniform Tomorrow
With our end of semester awards ceremony on tomorrow, all children are asked to wear their full winter school uniform please. (Not sports uniform).
Prayers
Please keep the Graeber family in your prayers this week. Mrs Ally Graeber’s mother, Rhonda, sadly passed away last week. May the Holy Spirit gently support Ally, Kaden (4 Green) and Lacey (1 Red). May Rhonda now rest in the peace of our loving God.

SCA Bush Christmas Fete
The SCA Bush Christmas Fete is shaping up to be a wonderful community celebration of the true meaning of the festive season - to rejoice and reflect on the year that has passed and embrace the season’s enduring message of Peace, Love and Joy.
After our first Fete Meeting, we found that we need many more SCA parent elves to give us a hand to ensure it will be an event to remember, and one that will carry us on the sleigh right to the end of 2023!
This year we will be asking class parents to run a stall for a small amount of time while we have a rota, ensuring everyone can have some family time enjoying our special activities and stalls.
This year we have Bells Carnival rides to entertain the children and the young at heart, a reptile and animal patting zoo, Legs Dancing Studio and a local choir performing Christmas Carols, a Santa Photo opportunity, a lollypop pick and chocolate trailer, face painting and crazy hair, Kenny Koala and even maybe a visit from Brumby Jack and Jill… plus many yummy child friendly foods!
For the adults, we have an abundance of fun activities and treats including festive mini food boards and plenty of refreshments, a chocolate wheel, Silent Auction, SCA Raffle, Hot Rod Display and other stalls including, books, craft, plants, gift baskets, pre-loved fashion, external market stall holders and more. Make sure to bring a big sack to take home everything you’ll need for the Festive Season!
We will be communicating through our class parents to organise Chief Elves to coordinate their class’s stall/activity. Please reach out to Faye Holden our Parent Community Rep if you can help on: SCAFete@outlook.com

End of Semester 1!
How fast this year has flown. As we finish up the semester, we reflect on our school theme of ‘Walking Together.’ Every day, I see staff and students walking together in our school community, physically, emotionally and spiritually. What a joy it is to see our faith in action!
Winter Food Drive
Today we were able to present our local Vinnies chapter representative, Gerard Heffernan, with a second car and trailer’s worth of donations from our generous school community. Gerard gratefully received these donations and thanked the community for their ongoing support. I would also like to pass on my thanks to everyone who was able to donate an item for the appeal.
Eucharist Enrolments
The Corpus Christi Eucharist enrolments will close this Friday, 30th June. Please ensure you have enrolled your child before this date, as a late fee is applicable. If you have any questions, please call the Parish Office on 6291 6688.
Year 5 Vision Assembly
This Friday, Year 5 will share their Vision Assembly with the school. Focusing on our Term 2 theme of Faith, it will be a great way to finish off the term. Parents are most welcome to join us.
Have a wonderful and restful break!
