Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for a great, although very different Term 3. Despite what is happening in the outside world we have hopefully managed to keep school life as normal as possible for our students. Everyone has been working hard and has earned a well-deserved rest.
Recharge, Reflect, Reset, Restart
We all know the three Rs of school, but what about the four Rs of the holidays? My hope is that everyone in our community experiences a nourishing break over the holiday period and have lots of opportunities to Recharge, Reflect, Reset and Restart! I hope that all families have a happy and restful break. I wish all those who are travelling safe travels. I know that the staff are looking forward to a very well-deserved break. I thank them for the dedication, enthusiasm and passion that they demonstrate daily. We look forward to having everyone return to us safe, happy and healthy next term.
Prayer for the School Holidays
May the holiday be for us
a time of rest and recreation
to help restore us
and re-create us
in your image and likeness,
as we enjoy
more of the love and presence
of our families,
on whom we ask your blessing. Amen.
Thank you for your ongoing care and partnership in your child’s learning.
God bless.

Principal’s Notes
Term 4
All students return to school for Term 4 on Monday 10th October 2022.
Semester 2 Reports
Catholic Education Canberra and Goulburn (CECG) has communicated to schools informing them that general comments will not be required on the Semester 2, 2022 reports. This is in line with other educational jurisdictions and systems. Given teacher workload at present, including staffing pressures across the profession, CECG’s position is to prioritise parent/teacher conferences occurring during Term 4. These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, their strengths, challenges, and future areas of focus. A Semester Report will be sent home as in previous semesters providing A-E grading and attendance information. Early next term the school will send communication regarding the parent/teacher conferences.
School Uniform
A reminder that Summer Uniform commences in Term 4, so please check the wardrobe and visit the Clothing Pool, Savvy and Lowes if any items are needed. We will have the usual transition period early in Term 4 to cater for the unpredictable weather.
COVID Update
The restrictions regarding parents in the school remains in place. Catholic Education provide regular updates and the school will advise when there are changes.
National Day of Mourning Public Holiday
As per the announcement made by Prime Minister Albanese, Thursday 22 September has been gazetted as a one-off public holiday, a National Day of Mourning for the death of Queen Elizabeth II. All CECG schools will be closed on this day. Business will return to normal for all CECG schools Friday 23 September.
First Eucharist
Last Thursday night our Year 5 students celebrated their First Eucharist. It was a beautiful celebration, led by Fr James, Fr Josh and Deacon Gavin. Congratulations to the communicants.
First Reconciliation
Enrolments are now open for Catholic students in Year 4 to celebrate the rite of Reconciliation (Penance). Yesterday parents and carers of Year 4 students should have received a Compass communication with a detailed letter from the parish explaining how to enrol. You are encouraged to enrol early, so you are not rushed when school returns for Term 4. If you did not receive the Compass communication, please contact Karen Haines via email karen.haines@cg.catholic.edu.au

Boorowa Combined Primary Schools Touch & Netball Carnival
Last call out for Boorowa as we are finalising numbers for the bus.
Please respond through Compass as soon as possible.
The cut off for registering for Boorowa is Friday 23rd September at 9am.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
It’s on again! The town and two primary schools of Boorowa will be playing host to the Boorowa Combined Primary Schools Touch & Netball Carnival. SCA will be nominating teams for both these sports for Years 2-6. We see this as a fun opportunity for our children to compete against different schools and give our city kids a country experience. Given the current COVID conditions there is a chance the carnival may be cancelled. Confirmation of the carnival will be sent to families on Friday 14th October.
The carnival is due to commence at 9am and conclude, depending on the draw, at approximately 3:30pm. We will be travelling by either private transport or by coach. The coach will be leaving the school at 6:15am and should arrive back at school by approximately 5:30pm. Children will need to take enough food and drinks for a whole day, especially water. A full canteen & BBQ will also be operating on the day. Children will need to wear their full sports uniform, including school cap or school netball visor and suitable clothing for any weather conditions the day presents. Sunscreen is a must for all children. Children are to nominate for either Touch or Netball. We require parents to volunteer as coach/manager for their child’s team if possible. It is an easy and enjoyable job for the day. We will endeavour wherever possible to keep the netball players in their weekend teams, though only if numbers allow. There is the option to travel to the Carnival by coach or by private transport. Each child travelling by coach is asked to pay $45, which will contribute to the cost of entering teams as well as transport. Each family only need to pay for a maximum of two players. Children travelling by private transport will only need to pay $10. Due to the large number of children traditionally attending, seats on the bus will be on a first come, first served basis. Adults assisting as Coaches/ Managers /Umpires travel for free on the coach if you wish. Please return the permission form that was sent to all Yr 2-6 families on Compass and make payment via QKR by Friday 23rd September . If you have any queries, please contact Katherine Austin for netball or Kate Warren for touch football at school on 6294 1860 or, katherine.austin@cg.catholic.edu.au, kate.warren@cg.catholic.edu.au Looking forward to seeing you there. What amazing students we have in our Extravaganza this year. The students have been working so hard, been very dedicated and shown great positivity and enthusiasm.
A huge thank you to the staff and parents who came along on Sunday for our dress rehearsal. A big shout out to Anthony Caffery Photographer
https://anthonycafferyphotography.pixieset.com/ for taking some amazing photos of all our cast and crew.
TICKETS
Tickets are selling fast! We are already at 50% capacity for our performances. Tickets are available on QKR for $5 each. We have two performances on Friday 28th October 7pm and Saturday 29th October 2pm. All students and their families are invited to come along and our students would love to see you there.
This year we had 96 girls from Years 2-6 registered to play Saturday morning netball at the Tuggeranong Netball Association. We had 10 teams with 2 in each grade. Every single player has had an amazing season. All of them have developed their skills and improved their games. We are so proud of the way the girls have shown such enthusiasm, motivation and especially sportsmanship. Our netball girls have done SCA proud and they should be very proud of their efforts in the 2022 netball season. A very special thank you to our coaches, umpires, parents and supporters. We could not do this without you!
Well done to you all!!
