Dear Parents and Carers,
As you may be aware over the last few years there has been a real effort in education to work with students to develop a Growth Mindset and the same ‘Yes I can!’ attitude to their school work. A Growth Mindset is about seeing that we are growing and learning all the time and our failed attempts today lead us to successful achievement in the future. Our students have learnt to acknowledge their achievements and say ‘Yes I can!’ and, when they are struggling with learning something new, to say ‘I can’t…yet!’. May we together strive to grow optimistic, confident children who persevere and support others in their learning.
Thank you for your ongoing care and partnership in your child’s learning.
God bless.
Rachel Smith

We are looking for a face painter to paint the faces of our main cast for our Extravaganza. The actors are mostly forest animals and the characters from Alice in Wonderland.
If you are able to help us out or know someone who can, we would love to hear from you.

Boorowa Combined Primary Schools Touch & Netball Carnival
It’s on again! The town and two primary schools of Boorowa will be playing host to the Boorowa Combined Primary Schools Touch & Netball Carnival. SCA will be nominating teams for both these sports for Years 2-6. We see this as a fun opportunity for our children to compete against different schools and give our city kids a country experience. Given the current COVID conditions there is a chance the carnival may be cancelled. Confirmation of the carnival will be sent to families on Friday 14th October.
The carnival is due to commence at 9am and conclude, depending on the draw, at approximately 3:30pm. We will be travelling by either private transport or by coach. The coach will be leaving the school at 6:15am and should arrive back at school by approximately 5:30pm. Children will need to take enough food and drinks for a whole day, especially water. A full canteen & BBQ will also be operating on the day. Children will need to wear their full sports uniform, including school cap or school netball visor and suitable clothing for any weather conditions the day presents. Sunscreen is a must for all children. Children are to nominate for either Touch or Netball. We require parents to volunteer as coach/manager for their child’s team if possible. It is an easy and enjoyable job for the day. We will endeavour wherever possible to keep the netball players in their weekend teams, though only if numbers allow. There is the option to travel to the Carnival by coach or by private transport. Each child travelling by coach is asked to pay $45, which will contribute to the cost of entering teams as well as transport. Each family only need to pay for a maximum of two players. Children travelling by private transport will only need to pay $10. Due to the large number of children traditionally attending, seats on the bus will be on a first come, first served basis. Adults assisting as Coaches/ Managers /Umpires travel for free on the coach if you wish. Please return the permission form that was sent to all Yr 2-6 families on Compass and make payment via QKR by Friday 23rd September . If you have any queries, please contact Katherine Austin for netball or Kate Warren for touch football at school on 6294 1860 or, katherine.austin@cg.catholic.edu.au, kate.warren@cg.catholic.edu.au Looking forward to seeing you there. Any questions or concerns please contact the Kindergarten Health Check Coordinator Judy Wilson at Judyl.wilson@act.gov.au
The SCA Community Council met on 6 Sept and discussed a range of operational issues including staff leadership and professional learning, finances, OSHC, and the impact of covid-19 on student activities, including excursions. We note planning is underway for a range of student activities in Term 4, when it is hoped that covid-19 restrictions will be eased.
On Tuesday 8th November (Term 4, week 5), we hope to hold an open meeting, which will also involve a school community event. This is instead of our regular meeting in Week 3, which we are delaying in celebration of the Extravaganza! We welcome any parent interested in learning more about the Community Council and what we do, to come to this meeting. More details will be available early in Term 4. In the meantime, please save the date and we look forward to seeing you then.
If you have any school matters that you would like to raise with the Community Council, please reach out to us individually, or through our email SCA.cc@cg.Catholic.edu.au

Smarties Report
This week marks the end of Primary School netball for the year 6 SCA Smarties team. Many of these girls started their netball journey five years ago when in year 2, we’ve been lucky to pick up others along the way!
This week we celebrated with a farewell party in place of our normal training time to reflect on all the great experiences, skills & friendships the girls will take away as they start their next chapters in high school.
Thanks for all the organising Mrs Austin, we will all miss you!
