FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear SCA Families,
This week, many of our Year 6 children celebrate their Confirmation at Holy Family Church.
Confirmation is a time for young people to renew their Baptismal faith and for the local Church to witness and accept that commitment in furthering the mission of the Church. We pray that the children gain an understanding that Confirmation is an expression of God’s commitment to us, and our commitment to God.
We pray this week for all the young people in our Archdiocese who will Confirm their membership of the Christian community this year.
We Want to Hear from You
All parents and guardians are invited to the SCA Community Council Meeting on Tuesday 18th June (next week) at 6.00pm.
Would you like us to address a specific issue? Do you have a question for the Council or staff? Do you have a compliment or suggestion about the way in which we do things?
At this meeting, we will address questions and issues raised by you, the parents in our school. To manage the process, please send us your question or comments by 5.00pm on Thursday 13th June. Please include your name and contact details in case we are unable to answer your question on the night. These may be sent to sca@cg.catholic.edu.au.
We will also:
- Update progress on our Annual Improvement Plan;
- Present an outline of our approach to teaching phonics;
- Hear from our Community Council Chairperson; and
- Provide input into future strategic and improvement plans.
Parking Infringement Notices
Please be aware that some of our parents have been booked for stopping (even briefly) in the bus zone in front of the school on Heidelberg Street. (Although no Transport Canberra buses stop here, services from surrounding NSW require before and after school access.)
According to the ACT Parking Infringements Guide, “A motorist who is not operating a public bus must not stop in a bus zone.”
Leaving SCA?
Don’t forget to let us know if you are planning to leave St Clare of Assisi at the end of the year. (Year 6 exempt of course!) We will soon commence the process of planning class numbers for next year.
Semester Reports
Class teachers are currently preparing reports. Individual reports will be sent home with children on Tuesday 2 July.
It was once said…
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Blessings to you and your family.
