Dear Families,

Easter Sunday has come and gone, but the season of Easter continues. During these weeks we celebrate and remember that Jesus is alive and actually present in our lives. I wish everyone a very happy Easter season and all its blessings, and pray we all see it as a call to renew our commitment to live as disciples and to work for peace in the world. (The season of Easter continues until the feast of Pentecost on Sunday 9 June.)

Please keep in your prayers Mrs Emma Currey and her family.  Tragically, Emma’s beloved husband, Carl, passed away suddenly during the school holidays. Emma, and her daughter Grace, have been supported by family and friends, including many of us from St Clare’s.

I am sure you will join with me in praying for Emma and Grace that this Easter season may bring some light and hope to a very sad time. May Carl now rest in the peace and joy of our risen Lord.

Notes and Newsletters - A New Look App!

During the holidays every family should have received a written letter, introducing our new school app. This app will be used for all notes, including the newsletter each and every Wednesday of the school year.

SZapp is a personalised app for our school and will better allow us to keep you updated with school information, newsletters, notices, calendar events and contact information. It provides you with access to what’s going on at the school at the touch of a button.

If you have a smartphone (Android or iPhone) you can download SZapp from Google Play Android or the Apple Store for FREE. Access is also available on a tablet and iPad by following the same download process. To download the new Schoolzine app (SZapp) please follow the instructions below.

When we update SZapp with new information or news about the school, a push message notification will automatically be sent to your device to inform you of this update. You can then view the notification which will then take your directly to our app.

2020 Enrolments

Enrolment time for 2020 is now upon us. If you have a little one ready for school in 2020, or you know of anyone interested in looking at our fantastic school for their children, enrolment packs are now available. Our Open Days will be:

NAPLAN

Students in Years 3 and 5 will sit the NAPLAN tests this month. Parents may elect to withdraw their children from these tests. If you do not want your child to sit the NAPLAN tests, please contact Ms Val Ciuffetelli at school.

 Mothers Day Celebrations

All mums, grandmums and mother figures are invited to join us for breakfast and a social gathering, next Friday 10th May, between 7.30am and 8.30am in the school Hall.

C’mon Gents, give a hand!

It’s our turn gentlemen! The Mothers Day breakfast is on at school on Friday 10^th May, from 7.30am. If you are able to help prepare, serve or clean up between 7.00am and 8.30am (even just for half an hour), please send me an email to let me know. School Uniform

Out come the long pants, jumpers, shirts, skirts and ties! Thank you to the many families that make that extra effort to ensure that children are wearing correct winter uniform. All children should be wearing their winter school uniform from Week 3. A few reminders:

• Formal black leather shoes must be worn with the school uniform. No Lynx shoes, black runners or canvas shoes.
• A note of explanation from the parent must be provided if your child deviates from the expected uniform for a short period of time while correct uniform is being sourced.
• Jewellery, rubber charity bands and bracelets must not be worn to school. The only jewellery items which may be worn to school are a watch and plain small stud or sleepers. (No hoops, loops, dangles or sparkly earrings).
• Navy gloves, scarves and coats during winter.

A uniform dress code reinforces in students a pride in their appearance, instills recognition of themselves as an integral part of the school community, and assists in developing pride in representing their school. Our school uniform is available from our Clothing Pool or Savvy School and Formal Wear.

Cross Country Carnival

It was a fantastic way in which to end the first term. We were blessed with the beautiful weather, the children participated enthusiastically, the parents’ support was encouraging and the staff had everything organised. Congratulations to all the children for their participation and cooperation. Thanks to all the parents who came along to help or watch. Thanks also to all the staff for the work in preparing for and managing the carnival. Special thanks to Mrs Karen Haines who coordinated the carnival. Well done one and all.

National Tourette Syndrome Awareness Week

Next week is National Tourette Syndrome Awareness Week. In order to increase awareness about Tourette Syndrome, the Year 6 students will be participating in an education program and activity, called TAC’TICS on Monday 6th May.
