Today the staff and students participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime. National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 19th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy using an Australian children's book.

By facilitating NSS we aim to: promote the value of reading and literacy, promote the value and fun of books, and promote an Australian writer and publisher.

Today we listened to the story Alpacas with Maracas by Matt Cosgrove being read by a number of staff members, we tried to guess who those voices belonged to and made maracas. There is a colouring-in competition running throughout the school that students can participate in as well. Don’t forget the colouring competition closes on Friday, 24^th May. Entries can be collected and returned to the library.
