This month is 'Read More in May month' and parents and carers are encouraged to read to their children every day.  We know that reading role models and shared reading time are critical to a child's learning and literacy development.  In fact, research shows that family reading time is one of the best ways to grow a child's interest in the wonderful world of books.  

The single biggest predictor of high academic achievement is reading to children.

Not flash cards, not workbooks, not fancy preschools, not blinking toys or computers, 

but mum and dad taking the time every day to sit and read them wonderful books. (Anon)
