Be the Light
'Let Your Light Shine Before Others'
Yesterday we celebrated National Sorry Day and today begins Reconciliation Week across Australia.
National Sorry Day is an important day to remember the Stolen Generations, their descendants, communities and healing that is still ongoing for the people and our nation. It is a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process.
National Reconciliation Week celebrates and builds on the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Australians. It is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
At school we are celebrating National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week through class activities and liturgies.
