FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear SCA families,
We are half way through this term, and things are starting to return to normal; even if it is a slightly different normal than we are used to.
The children and teachers are working well in our classrooms, and the joy on the playground is a delight to see every day. It really has been great to have the children back with us.
From Tuesday, it is expected that all students in the ACT will have returned to school for face-to-face learning. Of course, if your child is ill please keep them at home for their own benefit but also so as not to spread any illness to other students and staff. As always, please inform us if your child is to be absent on any day.
Reconciliation Week
Jesus is clear in his call for us to forgive others who hurt us. Reconciliation is precisely about this – acknowledging wrong, seeking and accepting forgiveness from those who have been wronged. This is the challenge for Australians as we continue the journey of healing that will lead to National Reconciliation. The presence of God within and among us makes this journey possible. We are, as Saint Paul says, ‘one body’ in Christ.
Yesterday was National Sorry Day and, in the ACT, Reconciliation day is next week (Monday Public Holiday). During this time we pray for the grace to be people with generous and forgiving hearts who will be instruments for reconciliation in our families and our communities.
Welcome
We warmly welcome the following students to SCA this week:
Dishaan S (2Y), Annabelle S (KG), Lilli L (1G) and Xara L (3G).
May they and their families soon feel well and truly a part of the SCA family.
Sunsafe – means no hats in June and July
Because the Cancer Council ACT does not recommend sun protection in Canberra during June and July, SCA does not enforce the wearing of hats during this time. The “no hat, no play” rule is shelved for the next two months. Bring on that Vitamin D!
Leaving SCA?
Don’t forget to let us know if you are planning to leave St Clare of Assisi at the end of the year. (Year 6 exempt of course!) We will soon commence the process of planning enrolments and class numbers for next year.
Tuckshop
We are planning for the Tuckshop to re-open on Tuesday 2nd June (Week 6) for on-line lunch orders. Please remember that for the rest of this week it will be closed.
Public Holiday – Monday 1st June
Enjoy the long weekend.
It was once said…
“The first to apologise is the bravest. The first to forgive is the strongest. The first to forget is the happiest.” –Unknown
Blessings to you and your family. Take care and go gently.
