Step Lab – Instructional Coaching Masterclass Professional Learning
At St Clare of Assisi, we know that the biggest difference we can make to student learning is through great teaching. In fact, research tells us that teachers have more impact on student progress than any other school related factor. That’s why we are deeply committed to supporting and growing the capacity of our teaching staff through high quality professional learning.
Recently, four of our instructional coaches, Susan Strickland, Jo Thomson, Belinda Breen, and Cherie Ruzvidzo, attended the Step Lab Instructional Coaching Masterclass, facilitated by leading education expert Ollie Lovell. This inspiring, face-to-face training gave our coaches the opportunity to deepen their understanding of evidence based coaching strategies that support real, lasting improvements in classroom practice.
So, what is instructional coaching all about?
Instructional coaching is a form of professional learning where experienced teachers support their colleagues to grow their practice. It involves setting small, focused goals, observing teaching, and offering constructive feedback. It’s all about improving together, one step at a time.
Our coaches came away from the masterclass inspired, full of ideas, and excited to keep supporting our teachers to be their best in the classroom. When we invest in our teachers, we’re investing in your child’s learning and we are so proud to be creating a culture where everyone, staff and students alike, is always learning and growing.
