RE News Week 7
This Sunday the season of Advent begins, marking a time of preparation for the birth of Jesus. It is an opportunity to reflect and pray about what truly matters. During this season, we connect with God and each other in each day's ordinary and sacred moments, feeling enlightened and loved.
The readings for the First Sunday of Advent establish the foundation for our reflections throughout the season, emphasising promises of peace and fulfilment. They highlight suffering often caused by people's actions yet assure us that relief is coming. These promises reveal a loving and forgiving God, offering hope.
The coming of the Lord signifies expectation, not fear. While earlier traditions spoke of punishment, the focus now is on redemption. Though there may be signs of turmoil, this shift will lead to fulfilment, showcasing God’s love and mercy. Those receiving this promise are called to “wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.” This Advent way of life encourages us to live our ordinary lives with extraordinary intention, shaping our interactions and attitudes, and reflecting God's revelation in every moment. St Vincent de Paul's Christmas Appeal
Last week, we officially launched our Vinnies Christmas Appeal. As part of this appeal, we would like to add a splash of Christmas cheer (such as reindeer ears or a Santa hat) to our Kindergarten Christmas concert. We invite students to bring their designated donations on Friday, 6th December, and wear a splash of Christmas cheer along with their regular school uniform. At 12 PM on Friday, the Kindergarten students will perform their dress rehearsal for the entire school. We encourage all students to wear their festive accessories during the performance!
