From The Assistant Principal Week 9
This Friday 28th June at 2pm in the Hall, Ibu Smith has organised a wonderful cultural experience for all of our students.
The Brief:
Borobudur Dance Troupe was founded in 2018 to preserve and share Indonesia's rich and diverse culture and dancing traditions with Canberra and beyond. The Troupe performs at various events such as multicultural festivals, formal Indonesian Embassy occasions and other community gatherings, both in ACT and NSW. The Troupe is named after Borobudur Temple, an Indonesian icon and the world's largest Buddhist temple located in Central Java.
The troupe will be performing Tari Burung Enggang (the Horbil bird) from East Kalimantan and Tari Saman from Aceh which is also known as the dance of a thousand hands.
Thanks Ibu for this opportunity, I am sure the colour and the dance will further deepen our appreciation of the culture of Indonesia!
