From The Assistant Principal Week 5

St Clare of Assisi
Bush Christmas School Fete

Not long now until the school fete!! I hope that everyone has Friday the 17th of November highlighted on their calendar to come to SCA and support the Bush Christmas School Fete. The Bush Christmas Fete begins at 4:00pm and usually concludes around 8:30 pm. This is a wonderful tradition that St. Clare of Assisi’s Primary School maintains and it is one that we should all be very proud of. In the last 11 years many schools have had to drop their fetes or other fundraisers due to lack of support but we at St. Clare’s can proudly talk of our ongoing efforts in this area. Those of us who are here in 2023 are merely the custodians of something that has been going for over 29 years.

I hope that every family actively contributes to the success of this year’s event. We need people to volunteer to set up the stalls, work on the evening (just for a hour), sell tickets, and to contribute to our last appeal day on Monday 13th, continue to look for donations that may be appropriate for silent auctions or other stalls including plants, cake, ladies fashions and chocolate wheel.

Now is the time that we, the custodians of the 2023 Fete all come together to work and support this great community we call SCA. We want to continue the growth of our Fete as a significant fundraising and social event for our school, our community and the broader community who support our efforts. This year the funds that we raise will go a long way to the development of our school resources and infrastructure. Let’s make this year’s Fete an effort to remember and a time that the children will never forget. So, jump on board and support this wonderful event!

What is our Fete Pre-sale via Qkr all about?

You would have received communication about what is for presale before our Bush Christmas Fete. Presales allow for you and your family to purchase items before the evening of the fete – easy no fuss.

Presale items includes the following:

Golden Ticket -$5

A Golden Ticket is a chance to win a ride ticket, and an item from each of the Fete Stall (excluding private market stalls) This is an awesome prize.

Gingerbread person aka Hands - $12

In the past, you could buy a hand and, on each finger, there would be an item you would redeem. These included a ride ticket, sausage sizzle, etc. Keeping with our fete theme, Bush Christmas we are using a Gingerbread person. On each limb on there is a redeemable item; a ride ticket, sausage sizzle, drink, packet of chips or biscuits and fairy floss. This is a bargain for $12. If you purchased the same items individually it would double the cost.

Ride Tickets

There are a number of large and small rides including the Hurricane, Cha Cha, Tea Cups etc coming to our Bush Christmas Fete. You may know Bells Amusements because they are at the South Coast every year over Christmas. They kindly give us tickets to sell for a discounted price in a presale, however, on the night their prices go up. The presale price is 5 for $30 and 10 for $60.

All presales are only until Tuesday 14 November.  We will send all the presales out to families via the eldest child next week or alternately you may pick them up on Fete Day.

We do, however, have an ATM Machine handy and EFTPOS available at some stalls on the night.

Remembrance Day - 11th November

Poppies.jpeg

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month is a moment not only to pause and remember all those who have served and sacrificed in wars and conflicts across the world, but also to reflect on the historical events that led to this day of significance. Originally announced to mark the anniversary of the Armistice that ended fighting with Germany in World War I, Remembrance Day today gives us all the opportunity to acknowledge the service personnel who died while serving in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. I know many in our community have links to the forces, with a great Grandparent, parent, brother, sister or relative serving our Country, we thank them for their sacrifice and service.

We kindly invite you to join us for our Remembrance Day Liturgy, Friday 10th November, in our Hall at 10.30am followed by light refreshments.
