Celebrations for National Wattle Day began with a ceremony at Government House in Yarralumla on September 1. It is 35 years since the official proclamation of Golden Wattle as Australia's floral emblem. It was not until 1992 that 1 September was officially proclaimed National Wattle Day in every State and Territory by the Commonwealth Government of Australia.

St Clare of Assisi was cordially invited by The National Wattle Association to present to the Their Excellencies, General the Honorable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia and Mrs Hurley. They received a basket of wattles on behalf of all the Australian school children. Lilly T, Daisy B, Lincoln B and Lucius M had the honour of presenting to Their Excellencies and did this with such poise. Mrs Snowball and Mr Egan-Richards chaperoned our beautiful students to this ceremony which was followed by a scrumptious morning tea.
