This weekend, we celebrate Father’s Day. We honour not just dads, but grandfathers, big brothers, uncles – anyone who has fulfilled a fatherly role in our lives. We recall the exemplary role model and patron saint of fathers, St Joseph. St Joseph was a man of compassion and caring, who possessed an unwavering faith in God. He was a man who loved and protected his family – not dissimilar to the men we will honour on this day in our own lives!

On Father’s Day, let us ask St Joseph for his intercession, on behalf of all dads and that his holy example continue to be an inspiration to all fathers:

God our Father,

We give you thanks and praise for fathers young and old.

We pray for young fathers, newly embracing their vocation;

May they find courage and perseverance to balance work, family and faith in joy and sacrifice.

We pray for all the Fathers around the world whose children are lost or suffering;

May they know that the God of compassion walks with them in their sorrow.

We pray for men who are not fathers but still mentor and guide us with fatherly love and advice.

We remember fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers who are no longer with us, but who live forever in our memory and nourish us with their love.

May the Almighty Father, bless them all.

Through the intercession of St. Joseph, foster father of Your Son,

Our Lord Jesus Christ,

Amen.

First Eucharist

Congratulations to the following children who will make their First Eucharist at our parish masses this weekend:

Dakota O, Chelsi W, Maddison W, Mia R, Lucius M, Joshua O, Holly W, Nate A, Riley Y, Daisy B, Lorelei H, Mahlia E, and Noah U.

We continue to pray for these children as they take the next step forward in their faith journey. Congratulations!

First Reconciliation

Enrolments for students to participate in the First Reconciliation program this year will open next Monday 4th September and remain open until 13th October. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will occur in Week 8, Term 4 (29-30/11). Enrolments are made through the Corpus Christi Qkr app. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with myself or Anne Gowen, Sacramental Coordinator at the Parish Office.   

Corpus Christi Parish Trivia Night

Save the date – Friday 27^th October 2023 at the Tuggeranong Vikings Club. Tables of 10, tickets available in the next few weeks. Auction/prizes to be held!  All proceeds will go to supporting the maintenance of our Churches (Holy Family Gowrie and Sacred Heart Calwell) and services provided by the parish of Corpus Christi. A great opportunity to connect with our parish community after a few years of hiatus!
