RE News
Today we start the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday. Lent is a time of experiencing the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert, being tempted by Satan. During Lent, we encourage our students to focus on the three pillars of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Pope Francis described Lent as a ‘journey of returning to God’ and deepening our love for each other. As we focus on ‘Walking Together’ in 2023, we gathered together for our Ash Wednesday Liturgy where we were joined by Fr Namora who led us in prayer. Thank you to the Year 5 team for their prayerful organisation of this.
Prayer for Ash Wednesday
Blessed are You O Lord
who gives us life and all things.
Lead us into repentance and
renew our lives with your grace.
May the crosses of ashes that mark our
foreheads be a reminder that we belong to your Son.
May our worship and prayer be sustained
throughout these days of Lent.
I ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
